We had the fortunate opportunity to host our good friend Rob Price from Bendigo DSE this past week. Rob is the nortwest regional land and fire manager for DSE and had led the Aussie-Kiwi firie deployment to Canada over the past few weeks. Initially it was to be Ewan Waller joining us in Boise, but due to Royal Commission pressures, he had to return to Melbourne. No worries, Rob was a wonderful fill in as I took the weekend and drove Rob from Portland, Oregon, through my homelands of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation (something we expect to do with many more of you) then on to Boise, Idaho (nearly 1000 kilometers). We really had a wonderful time, shared in some good conversation, excellent northwest US India Pale Ales as well as terrific Oregon merlots.
When we got back to Boise, I introduced Rob to all our senior fire officials as well as coercing Rob into giving a lecture about the Black Saturday fires and the Royal Commission interim findings; packed house that really enjoyed the sobering talk.
We head down under 5 more days; hard to believe. We are looking forward to seeing everyone and enjoying good company and stories....again! See you all soon!
