We had a great end to 2008 and beginning to 2009. We (Shaws and Wrays) headed to Ballarat which is about 1.5 hours from Bendigo. Part of the visit was to take in Sovereign Hill, Australia’s foremost outdoor museum. Sovereign Hill recreates Ballarat’s first ten years after the discovery of gold in 1851 when thousands of international fortune-hunters rushed to the Australian goldfields in search of riches.
The other part of the visit....to ring in 2009, was a New Year's Eve stay with our good friends, Gary and Rhonda Morgan who are also in Ballarat. All too much fun with a great experience of bringing in the New Year in another country. One that we will not forget.
And Finally, Nana and Papa headed back to the US yesterday. They couldn't wait to get back to the rain, snow and ice in Oregon. We had a little pool party in there honor last night at the Renaldi's. It was a bit cool....95 degrees and all.
