Brendan's 6th Birthday....Southern Hemisphere Style

Before we arrived in Australia, all 3 children were quite concerned about having birthday celebrations without North American friends. This was really a sticking point. In fact, if it weren't for Bodie, we would have left them in Idaho. Cooler heads prevailed. Surely we, as high performance parents, could justify their existence by fabricating something. Even if it meant paying local townfolk and random children to give gifts. Of course we spent many waking nights worrying; southern hemisphere offspring are entirely different than ours.....under the Queen's rule and being from the world's oldest continent and all......

Happy Birthday Brendan!! I will show your pictures to Nick. Nick and I went to the Sheriff's department on Tuesday because Nick wanted to know how much longer he had to sit in a booster seat. I told him he had to talk to the sheriff, I wasn't going to ask the questions. The sheriff gave him the information and as soon as we got in the car the booster seat went on the floor and the seatbelt went on and the next thing I heard was "it fits where it is supposed to!! I don't have to have a booster seat anymore!!" and that my friends is that!! I told him that he did a really good job talking to the sheriff and he said "I was so scared". I also forgot to tell Jim about our little field trip and so when Nick got in Jim's car Tuesday night for soccer the booster seat was thrown on the floor and Jim was told "the sheriff said I don't have to." Jim's statement to me "this is the day I have been waiting for, no more carseats, it is better than no more diapers!!" Have a great day!!
